Evans appoints Millers skipper...

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans has confirmed that Ian Sharps will captain Rotherham United for the forthcoming season.

“It’s been a long process, all the way through pre-season, but ultimately I’ve made the decision that Ian Sharps who will skipper us as team and club captain, and Johnny Mullins will be vice-captain.”

Supporters were asked to email their suggestions to the club, and after reading the large number of responses and speaking to his staff, Evans opted for the former-Shrewsbury man who led his team to promotion from League One last year.

“We’ve taken into consideration a lot of the supporters' views which have been invaluable to us. Each of the members of the football staff have had an input and I’ve taken my time over the last 24 hours to come up with a decision and I’ve informed the Chairman in the last couple of hours of my decision.”

The full interview with Steve Evans is now available on Millers Player.
