Youth Team 2 v 3 Chesterfield, report

Rotherham United’s youth team suffered a narrow defeat against near neighbours Chesterfield recently.

The talking point of the game was Mason Warren scoring from inside his own half, but it wasn’t enough for the young Millers who were eventually beaten 3-2.

The visitors opened the scoring in the opening exchanges before Warren spotted the ‘keeper off his line and found the back of the net from little over halfway.

It proved insignificant however as Chesterfield, coached by Mark Smith soon put two goals between the sides with Max Hallatt’s late goal for the Millers proving little more than a consolation.

Millers: Denton, Bailey, Rose (Smalley 60), Shelley, Peace-McDonald, Hallatt, Gibson (B. Wiles 60), A. Wiles, Yates, Norfolk (Gibbons 76), Warren.
Unused: Bilboe, Saxton.
