Rotherham United made it three consecutive victories after a 2-1 success against Hartlepool United.

At a rain soaked Roundwood, the Millers dug in to build on the recent victories over Bradford City and Chesterfield to continue their recent good form.

Ben Wiles and Kuda Muskwe were on target as the Millers defeated a high-flying Pools outfit.

“It was a different game today and the weather made it tricky,” Gareth Barker told www.themillers.co.uk

“We knew it would be tough because Hartlepool are second in the league after being top for a period of time too, but the lads did well.

“We are in a good position at the moment after two wins before this game. We had a couple of injuries but the lads who came into the side did really well, which was pleasing.

“We scored two good goals. Ben Wiles showed good awareness to find the net after capitalising on a mistake. The second goal came from a corner after some good work on the training ground by Ciaran Toner, which we managed to execute in the match environment. When things like that come to fruition it is very pleasing for the players and staff.

“It should have been more; we could have been three or four in front at half-time. We also had an under 15 play in the game so it was a good experience for him and a good day all round.”

The Millers are in action on Wednesday night (7pm) in the FA Youth Cup third round tie against Tottenham Hotspur at Stevenage’s Lamex Stadium.
