Sky Bet Fan of the Month

Fulham fan Pete Wilkes has been named the Sky Bet Championship Fan of the Month for March.

Pete has missed no more than five Fulham games home and away since 1981. In March Pete feared this would creep up to six when a fellow Fulham fan decided to hold his stag do in Berlin over the weekend of Fulham’s trip to Huddersfield.

But while he was in Germany Pete decided that he was not going to miss the game and booked a flight back to Heathrow and a connection to Manchester. He took a train to Huddersfield and watched the 2-0 victory!

By 11pm that evening Pete was at home in London handing his wife an anniversary card. Then at 6am the next morning he was heading back to Berlin to rejoin the celebrations.

Pete said: “The guys on the stag are all Fulham fans but, unlike me, they don’t tend to travel to away games anymore.

“So when I said I had decided to go back to England for the Huddersfield game they weren’t surprised - they know I am mad!

“The Sky Bet award came out of the blue. I like to think I am a proper football fan and it is nice to be recognised for that.”

Fulham captain Scott Parker said: "We can safely safe Pete is a worthy winner of the award. After what he told me about his trip to our Huddersfield game it is clear he is a true Fulham fan.

“It’s not exactly been the best of seasons, so it’s nice to hear that even through the patchy times fans like Pete have stuck with us.”

Pete’s Sky Bet Championship predictions:
•         Fulham 1 Middlesbrough 1 – Matt Smith first goal scorer (40/1 subject to change)
•         Norwich 2 Fulham 2 – Ross McCormack first goal scorer

If Pete won the £250,000 Sky Bet Transfer Fund for Fulham he would put it towards buying Alex Pritchard from Tottenham Hotspur (currently on loan at Brentford).
