Michael O'Connor recently spoke to Millers Matchday...

Midfielder Michael O’Connor has admitted it is a ‘great feeling’ to be back in the side after starting the last three league games.

The midfield maestro had been restricted to appearances from the bench after the scintillating form of Lee Frecklington and Richie Smallwood.

Following the injury to Frecklington in the 4-3 victory over Gillingham, the door was open for both O’Connor and Rob Milsom to make an impression, and the Northern Ireland playmaker admitted he was ready to make his return in front of the Sky cameras at New York Stadium against Bradford City.

“It was a great feeling to hear that I was starting and I was delighted to get back into the side,” Micky recently told Millers Matchday.

“I had kept myself ticking over with reserve games so I was ready if I my chance came around, so it was good to be in from the start again and hopefully I can continue to play a part.”

With the Millers already cementing their place in the play-off showcase, the 26-year-old admitted that the focus is now on finishing the regular season in good form to take momentum into the semi-final showdown.

“We have some vital games to play now before the play-offs and we know the importance of staying sharp and making sure we are ready for what is sure to be a very tough semi-final,” he confirmed.

“We will be trying to take a good run of form into those games but more importantly we all need to be fit and sharp because there won’t be much margin for error in those games.”
