Steve Evans post Coventry City...

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans was left delighted after seeing his side defeat Coventry City 3-0 at Sixfields this evening.

Nouha Dicko got his first for the club before setting up a goal for Alex Revell and winning a penalty that was converted by Kieran Agard to ensure all three points travelled back to South Yorkshire.

“There was discipline all round the team,” Evans said after the game. “We had great shape, were well organised, we knew it was going to be tough here and because we’ve beaten them 3-0 doesn’t make them a bad side. You have to work extremely hard to win here but I thought we controlled the game from the kick-off.

The Millers named just five substitutes for the game and were depleted further when Rob Milsom had to be withdrawn during the warm-up, leaving just four replacements available.

"We come here under difficult circumstance to be fair. We were robbed of Michael O’Connor yesterday when he had to pull out with a thigh problem and then we named Rob Milsom and he had to pull out with a back spasm at half-past seven but to be fair to Michael Tidser he’s come in for his first league start and during spells he was the best player on the park which is a compliment to him, other than (Dicko) up front who he was exceptional."

Dicko’s impact has been a sudden one for the Millers, and Evans has said that whilst he will be looking to add to the squad before Thursday’s headline, the current crop of players are more than capable, and will only get better.

“He (Dicko) is a good player and we said recently that if we’re adding to the squad we’re going to add quality but we’ve got a real good squad here with some real good characters in the dressing room. We’re going to be even better in the second half of the season than we were first half and last season proved that. The more we work hard the more the players take on board what we’re trying to do, we’ll do ok,” Evans added.
