SHOP | ROTHERHAM REWIND CLOCKS TO PRODUCE NEW RETRO RANGE

27 March 2024

Sponsored by

Rotherham United have rolled back the years to bring two new retro shirts to the shelves of the Red and White Shop with pre-orders now being taken for two iconic designs from the club's history.

Following the success of previous kit throwbacks, the Millers have been liaising with a number of suppliers to ensure that the delivery of the latest shirts to return replicate their original counterparts as closely as possible.

We are delighted to have established a relationship with two of our former kit suppliers – Matchwinner and Spall – to produce historical jerseys which fans can now get their hands on ready for the summer.

The shirts are yet to arrive in-store with us in the Red and White Shop with fans now able to pre-order theirs prior to their arrival in a month's time.

HOME SHIRT – 1993 - 1995

The first instalment takes us back to the 90s and the shirt worn at Millmoor between 1993 and 1995 by the Millers.

This traditional red and white top was donned by the likes of Shaun Goater, Des Hazel, Chris Wilder and Mark Todd and was produced by kit suppliers Matchwinner.

It’s notable features - aside from the red body with white sleeves that have become so synonymous with Rotherham United over the years - include a ‘proper’ full collar with black trim, while the torso of the shirt is sublimated with what can only be described as an ‘incredibly 90s’ pattern.

The recreation also comes complete with a press stud at the neckline, two ‘bands’ of red at the tip of the sleeves and all the logos as they appeared on the original design with the ‘old school’ Rotherham United crest complemented by the Matchwinner ‘M’ and the Parkgate Retail World logo.

THIRD SHIRT – 1987-1988

The second shirt takes us back further in the club’s timeline into the late 80s – 1987/88 to be specific.

While Rick Astley was professing to the world that he was never going to give them up at the top of the music charts, the Millers were sporting a yellow third shirt produced by Spall.

On the road, the Millers kitted up in this yellow top with blue pinstripes and accents on the collar and sleeves and was worn by players including Shaun Goodwin, Martin Scott and John Buckley.

Spall kept it beautifully simplistic in their approach, with a tonal club crest joined by their company branding on the chest of the shirt, with Parkgate Retail World’s association with their local club once again proudly shown as the main shirt sponsor.
