Rotherham United Academy refused to be beaten on home turf as they battled from behind for a dramatic last-gasp point.

A typically physical encounter with the visitors Bradford City was always to be expected, but it was the Millers who muscled their way into a first half lead.

An expertly-placed and elegant finish from Joel Holvey put the Joe Skarz’s lads in front. A floated cross from Tom Shepherd was brought under control by George Giwa, who rolled the ball off for the full fullback Holvey to finish.

Despite taking the lead, the young Millers struggled to maintain it as Bradford began to assert themselves. The growing Bantams pressure paid dividends as they struck twice to stun the Millers and gain a flash lead.

Bradford defended their lead valiantly but, as is typical of a Rotherham United team, they refused to give in.

Skarz’s young Millers dug their heels in, and launched a rapid counter in the closing exchanges. James Clarke’s whipped delivery was met at the back post by the head of McKenzie Paisley, who buried a lethal header past the Bradford ‘keeper to secure a point for the Millers.

TEAM | Hamilton, Holvey, Clarke, Grove, Ayres, Roddis, Giwa (Paisley 68’), Shepherd (Wilson 48’), Seisay, Gordon (Richardson 45’), Gardner.

UNUSED | Abraham, Truswell.
