Rotherham United are absolutely delighted to have landed the EFL Green Club Award at the 2024 EFL Awards ceremony, which took place on Sunday night.

With the help of our fantastic Community Trust, the Millers saw off competition from Watford and Northampton Town for the top prize at the League’s annual ceremony, which took place in London on Sunday 14th April.

The Millers received special praise for their ‘Go Green’ campaign,  which was the driving force behind a number of separate initiatives, including the highly successful #TidyUpOurTown scheme, Swap Shop and Top Ten Tips guide.

Staff from our Community Trust have worked tirelessly alongside first team players and volunteers throughout the year and beyond, as we look to make Rotherham United a more green and sustainable football club, with the work receiving special recognition from the EFL, winning the coveted Green Club Award.

Speaking following the Millers’ success at the EFL Awards night, Community Programme Manager Jonny Allan told www.themillers.co.uk.

“It goes without saying that we are both delighted and proud to have won this incredibly prestigious award.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has worked so tirelessly over many, many months to make this all possible.

“From every staff member, volunteer and the first team players and staff who have always been happy to give up their time to help us with our endeavours, each and every one of you has played such a crucial part in helping us to this success."

Jonny Allan, Community Programme Manager

“I would like to give a special mention to our former striker Georgie Kelly, who was absolutely instrumental in a number of our projects, especially our Swap Shop initiative which he helped us to launch.

“Making Rotherham United a more green and sustainable football club has been a the forefront of our endeavours and whilst it is obviously fantastic to win this award, we want to continue on the good work we’ve already started.”
