Ryan Giles

Date of birth

Ryan Giles joined the Millers in January 2021, on a season-long loan deal from Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Giles, is comfortable playing in several positions on the left side and has made the temporary switch to South Yorkshire, following another loan spell with fellow Sky Bet Championship outfit Coventry City.

The Telford-born wideman  has been at Wolves for the past 12 years, having joined the club at eight-years-old, progressing through the youth ranks at Molineux, making debut for the Premier League side in January 2019, in an Emirates FA Cup tie with Shrewsbury Town.

After winning the 2018 Wolves Academy Player of the Year award, he has spent the last 18 months furthering his footballing development on loan in the EFL. Giles was loaned out to Shrewsbury for the first half of the 2019/20 campaign, where he made 25 appearances and scored one goal.

His form in Shropshire caught the eye of former Millers boss Mark Robins, who moved to take him to Coventry on a deal until the end of the season on deadline day last year.

The suspension of football due to the Coronavirus pandemic restricted his first spell with the Sky Blues, but he impressed enough to earn a second loan spell as Robins’ men pipped the Millers to the Sky Bet League One title.

Giles made 21 appearances for Coventry during the 2020/21 campaign but was recalled by Wolves before joining the Millers until the end of the current campaign.
