Midfielder Matt Palmer joined the Millers during the 2018 January transfer window after from then-Championship side Burton Albion for an undisclosed fee.
Well known to the Millers after scoring against Paul Warne’s side for Albion at the Pirelli Stadium during the 2016-17 season, Palmer arrived at AESSEAL New York Stadium following the departure of Lee Frecklington to Lincoln.
Palmer came through the ranks at Burton and played a major role as the Brewers made the League Two play-off final in 2014 before losing to Fleetwood.
He was again a major player the following season as Burton this time went up as Champions, and the success didn’t end there as Palmer was again a mainstay as they gained promotion to The Championship.
The midfielder played 36 games in the second tier as Burton defied the odds to stay up.
He swapped life in the second tier for a switch to the AESSEAL New York Stadium which raised a few eyebrows, but the move paid off as he helped Rotherham to Play-off Final success, replacing his former side in The Championship.
