Another player to arrive as Paul Warne looked to refresh his Rotherham United side ahead of the 2019/20 campaign was midfielder Jamie Lindsay.

The Millers paid an undisclosed fee to secure his services from Scottish outfit Ross County, with his arrival bolstering the midfield ranks at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

The 23-year-old was a key figure during Ross County's title-winning Scottish Championship campaign and he made a total of 48 appearances in all competitions for the Staggies, scoring nine goals.

Having started his career at Celtic as a youth player, he represented the development side on numerous occasions before spending time on loan at Dumbarton, Greenock Morton and Ross County. He then made his move to Victoria Park permanent in June 2018.

Lindsay wasted no time in endearing himself to the Rotherham United faithful with his energetic and industrious displays in the middle of the park as he played a key role in helping the Millers to promotion from Sky Bet League One in the 2019/20 campaign.

The Scot etched his name into Rotherham United folklore the following year, scoring a brace in a 3-0 victory over South Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield Wednesday, which saw the Millers record their first home league victory over the Owls since 1976.

Having featured 35 times during the Millers' 2021/22 promotion-winning campaign, the Scot was rewarded with a new two-year contract in the summer of 2022.

Lindsay finished the 2022/23 season with 39 appearances and two goals to his name, including his strike after less than a minute against Luton Town in November, with the game eventually finishing 1-1.
