The Millers wasted no time in shoring up their goalkeeping department ahead of the 2021/22 campaign by offering goalkeeper Josh Vickers fresh terms at AESSEAL New York Stadium until the summer of June 2023.
Vickers, now 25, is a proven League One operator having excelled for the Imps at third tier level in 2019/20, during which he made 37 appearances for Lincoln City before the campaign was curtailed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
During the previous campaign, the form of Viktor Johansson and on-loan Chelsea stopper Jamal Blackman prevent the Billericay-born stopper from making a first team appearance in Rotherham colours, but he remained an integral part of the first team training group throughout the course of the 2020/21 season, driving standards with his tireless efforts at Roundwood.
As well as boasting a CV which would suggest he is well-equipped for a League One tussle, Vickers also worked closely with goalkeeping coach Andy Warrington during the pair’s time together at Lincoln City, adding further gravitas to boss Paul Warne’s decision to keep him on board for a further two years.
