Mark graduated from University of Ulster, in Belfast, with a BSc. Hons Physiotherapy in 2013; and MSc Sports and Exercise Medicine in 2016.

He spent the early stages of his career working part time in private practice, whilst training and competing full time as an international middle distance runner.

His career in sports physiotherapy began as senior team physiotherapist with Fermanagh GAA in 2014 (elite level Gaelic football); before moving to South Yorkshire, in July 2017, to take on the role of Head of Academy Sports Science and Medicine, with Rotherham United Football Club. 

In December 2018, Mark took on the role of Head Academy Physiotherapist at Hull City FC; working with their u23 squad. However, in June 2019, Mark returned to Rotherham United as first team physiotherapist.
