Rotherham United are delighted to confirm that three-time League One promotion winner Reece James will join the club upon the expiration of his contract with Sheffield Wednesday this summer, subject to EFL and FA ratification.

The 30-year-old quickly follows Jonson Clarke-Harris, Joe Rafferty and Shaun McWilliams through the entrance at AESSEAL New York Stadium as boss Steve Evans continues to push the throttle to full in his early summer recruitment drive.

James returns for a second spell with the Millers having previously worked with Evans in South Yorkshire during the fledgling stages of his career whilst on loan from Manchester United in 2014 and this time arrives on a permanent basis after agreeing a two-year contract.

The Bacup-born operator – who is a left-back by trade but also capable of playing in midfield – was schooled in the famed Manchester United Academy having spent time in the younger age groups with Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers.

James can call upon no fewer than three promotions from Sky Bet League One having most recently achieved the feat through the Play-offs whilst with Sheffield Wednesday, with that adding to winning the third tier title on two occasions whilst contracted to Wigan Athletic.

His CV also boasts time with Sunderland, Doncaster Rovers and Blackpool in a career that has seen him turn out over 200 times in the EFL, with all of those appearances at League One and Championship level.

An interview with Reece will be available to watch on www.themillers.co.uk shortly.
