Everyone at Rotherham United has been deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the writer of the iconic Rotherham United song ‘Miller Men, Frank Hopkinson.

Frank – who also went by the stage name Danny Cannon at the time of penning the lyrics – wrote the track in the early 1980s and enlisted the help of the team of the era to sing on its official recording.

The legacy that he created has burned brightly ever since with the track having been a significant part of Rotherham United culture since it first aired over 40 years ago.

Having first been heard back at Millmoor, the track has rung out around the Millers’ modern day home at AESSEAL New York Stadium and will be included in this weekend’s matchday playlist for the South Yorkshire derby in honour of Frank.

Everyone at the club would like to extend their heartfelt condolences to Frank’s family and his many friends at this incredibly difficult time.
