Rotherham United would like to wholeheartedly thank each and every person who donated to the Rotherham Hospice at the weekend’s South Yorkshire derby with Sheffield Wednesday and helped to raise an excellent £1,856.33.
Millers and Owls fans combined to produce a total which was double that of the last bucket collection held in aid of the Rotherham Hospice at AESSEAL New York Stadium and everyone at the club would like to thank fans of both clubs for their incredible generosity.
A huge thank you must also go to the team of volunteers who selflessly gave up their time to facilitate this fantastic fundraising effort - some of whom can be seen in the images above.
We have reaffirmed the message throughout the course of the season and via the formation of our group of Diamond Partners just how highly we think of the people and service that the Broom-based charity provides for our local community.
We also regularly communicate the fact that they need £6 million per-year to be able to continue carrying out that amazing work, half of which has to come from charitable fundraising such as collections like these.
The club remains indebted to our Diamond Partners, who without question have helped us to shine a light on all of the above and reaffirm the need for us to get behind such an amazing cause, but we are genuinely taken aback by the kindness of our fans every single time we call for your support.
The money raised between both sets of supporters once again highlights the amazing vehicle that football can provide when it comes to doing positive work in our communities and we want to once again thank you for your kindness.
