Rotherham United midfielder Sam Clucas has seen his stunning volley against Sunderland at AESSEAL New York Stadium nominated for the December Goal of the Month award for the Sky Bet Championship.

Clucas’ name will go into a supporters vote, which will run until 5pm on Monday 15th January, with Millers fans able to select his strike online.

The full list of nominees for the award are as follows:

Wesley Hoedt – Hull City v WATFORD – 2nd December

It is one thing to talk about lobbing a keeper from 45 yards, as Watford had done pre-match, quite another for a central defender to execute it with such stunning precision as Hoedt did.

Wes Burns – IPSWICH TOWN v Coventry City – 2nd December

Conor Chaplin’s whipped pass and a five-player move traversing the Portman Road pitch were still topped by Burns’ audacious, breathtaking banana shot off the outside of his right boot.

James Justin – Cardiff City v LEICESTER CITY – 29th December

Some players go for raw power when they are 25 yards from goal. Leicester full-back Justin opted for precision, lifting the ball effortlessly over Cardiff’s Jak Alnwick and into the top corner.

Sam Clucas – ROTHERHAM UNITED v Sunderland – 29th December

Clucas combined speed of mind with fleetness of foot, judging instantly where the ball would drop, sprinting onto it and then lacing his left-foot volley with thunderous timing and accuracy.

Fans are invited to vote for their favourite goal on EFL.com before 5pm on Monday 15 January.

The supporters' votes will be combined with the choices from a panel to determine the winners.

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL experts Don Goodman & David Prutton.
