Rotherham United defender Sean Morrison has continued his rich vein of form by being voted the Mattress Online Man of the Match for his performance in the Millers’ narrow 1-0 defeat to Fulham in the Emirates FA Cup at Craven Cottage on Friday night.
Leam Richardson’s team but in a spirited display against the Premier League Cottagers, which was held together by a resolute performance in defence.
Morrison was at the heart of the Millers’ rearguard efforts, with the skipper making a number of important interventions to deny Marco Silva’s side in the capital. The most notable of them came in the 50th minute, when he produced a stunning double block, firstly to deny Harrison Reed, before reacting brilliantly to thwart Timothy Castagne on the rebound.
The skipper – who has started Rotherham’s last five matches – has been a standout performer and this form has not gone unnoticed, with Morrison earning 47.5% of the 634 votes cast, ahead of fellow nominees Hakeem Odoffin, Viktor Johansson and Jamie Lindsay.
