Defender Peter Kioso has been voted by Millers fans as their Mattress Online Man of the Match from Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship hosting of Southampton.
Kioso, who returned to AESSEAL New York Stadium from a loan spell at Peterborough in January, has transitioned seamlessly to life back in the second tier having turned in a solid performance at Middlesbrough before using that as a foundation for his display against the Saints at the weekend.
Highly-commended for showcasing his abilities in attack and defence, the 24-year-old provided the Millers with an outlet on the right flank but also a rock solid defensive base against a side in Southampton blessed with attacking talent.
The Dublin-born wing back has knuckled down upon his return to South Yorkshire, where he has linked up with new Millers head coach Leam Richardson for the first time since his appointment in December – while Kioso was out on loan.
Kioso’s nomination came alongside those of Viktor Johansson, Sam Clucas and Christ Tiehi and lands the award with 50.2% of the 620 votes cast, with his goalkeeper finishing as a close second with 44.2%.
