Rotherham United boss Leam Richardson admitted he was as 'disappointed as anyone' inside AESSEAL New York Stadium as his side swallowed a bitter pill in the 1-0 home defeat to Watford.

The Millers emerged as the superior side in all-but-the-scoreline when it came to the match stats, with one moment of magic from Yaser Asprilla deciding the outcome of a tight game in South Yorkshire.

"Of course it's frustrating at the minute with the results.

"I think the effort levels and the performance deserved more.

"We need to keep improving and I don't think there's any reason not to perform and come in to work and keep exercising really good habits until the end of the season.

"In the first meeting that I had when I came in the building that we were obviously in a situation with many things - not just on the pitch - but around the football club that we need to be aware of, enhance and evolve and make sure we make a fist of it, otherwise what is the point.

"The effort levels that I demand from the lads were there for all to see today.

"We need that little bit of quality and that little bit of a cutting edge, but we're very mindful of the division that we're in playing against a good Watford side and we've come out on top on all things but the final score.

"The Championship is full of quality of player, full of very well-coached and supported teams and we're no different. I knew the challenge when I came into the building and the things we need to take forward if we want to sustain as a Championship football club and it's not going to happen overnight. I'm as disappointed as anybody today with the result."
