It’s almost that time of the year again!

That’s right, Prostate United is back and this October, football supporters and staff across the country will be running, walking or cycling every day for their club to raise money to help beat Prostate Cancer.

Back in 2018 our former Head of Medical Stephen Gilpin along with friend and former Millers colleague Ross Burbeary conceived the idea of Prostate United and challenged themselves to run and cycle every day for a month.

Stephen was inspired to kick-start the fundraising effort in honour of his late grandfather Norman - who he lost to the disease - and alongside Ross began running 10km every day. In the years that followed, they recruited fellow EFL club staff to join them.

Since then, what started as a two-man band has grown to involve hundreds of football club staff every year and helped raise over £340,000 so far and this year, they are inviting supporters to take part, too!

Right across the country, over 300 staff from 60 football club are uniting for this daily fitness challenge and you can join them.

Tragically, prostate cancer kills one man every 45 minutes and we can all do our bit to help fund vital research and raise awareness in order to beat it.

Unite with fellow supporters and club staff as you take part in the challenge as a team and see where you land on the virtual leader boards.

This year, whether on foot or by bike, you can make the prostate challenge your own through the following categories:

Walk | 3km a day OR 5km a day

Run | 5km a day OR 10km a day

Cycle | 10km a day OR 25km a day

Not only will you receive a free t-shirt when you sign up but also, participants who hit fundraising milestones throughout the challenge will receive more branded merch with a free beanie hat to be dispatched if you raise £300 and your very own branded football shirt once passing the £500 mark!

In addition to this, you can unite with fellow supporters and club staff as you take part in the challenge as a team and see where you land on the virtual leader boards.
