Rotherham United will pay their respects to Sheffield United Women’s player and Sheffield United employee Maddy Cusack who passed away this week aged 27, by wearing black armbands at Saturday’s fixture against Preston North End.
Both the Millers and the Lilywhites will don black armbands as a tribute to Maddy and as a show of support to her many friends and colleagues at Bramall Lane during this heartbreakingly difficult time.
Maddy was a popular figure both on and off the pitch at Bramall Lane, where she became the first player to reach 100 appearances for the women’s team and was highly respected by her colleagues in her role as Marketing Executive with the Blades.
A number of our own current and former employees have known and worked alongside Maddy and all speak fondly of her as both a person and a professional.
It goes without saying that the thoughts of everyone at both Rotherham United and Preston North End are with all of Maddy's family and friends and everyone connected with Sheffield United at this incredibly difficult time.
Sheffield United Football Club is devastated to report the sad news of the passing of Maddy Cusack.
