REPORT | SALFORD CITY 1 V 1 RESERVES

17 October 2023

A late Joel Holvey strike earned the Millers their first point of the 2023/24 Central League Cup campaign, following a 1-1 draw with Salford City.

Senior pros Dillon Phillips, Toalji Bola, Arvin Appiah, Georgie Kelly and Tom Eaves joined a team made up of young professionals and scholars to take on City.

The away side looked set for a second defeat from as many Central League Cup outings after Marcus Dackers had given Salford the lead before Holvey struck in added time to earn a point for the Millers.

The Reserves have now played both their away fixtures in their Central League Cup Group, with the winners of the group guaranteed a place in the knockout stages of the competition. Alongside the Terriers and the Ammies, the group also contains Stockport County and Bolton Wanderers who the Millers are due to host.

First up, they welcome County on Tuesday 21st November, before hosting Wanderers on Tuesday 27th February.

RESERVES V SALFORD CITY | Phillips, Shepherd, Seisay, Douglas, Bola (Mare 60’), Holvey, Abraham, Grove, Appiah (Hatton 45’), Kelly (Ayres 45’), Eaves (Roddis 60’).
