Rotherham United’s cool-headed midfielder Christ Tiehi has been named as the Mattress Online Man of the Match for his display in Saturday’s defeat at the Cardiff City Stadium.
As has become apparent in recent weeks, Tiehi provides a solid platform at the base of the midfield whilst also providing an extra layer of protection for the rearguard.
Once again, the Parisian operator proved to be a vital cog in the Millers’ midfield machine, though his steady display couldn’t prevent defeat for his side as goals from Kion Etete and Perry Ng were enough to sink Matt Taylor’s men in the Welsh capital.
Tiehi narrowly saw off teammates Fred Onyedinma and Tyler Blackett, earning 37.5% of the 261 votes to claim the accolade for the third time.
Honourable mentions go to both the former, with Blackett putting his body on the line to halt numerous Cardiff City advances, and Onyedinma’s quick feet and intelligent runs causing headaches for the Bluebirds’ left flank.
A further honourable mention goes to Arvin Appiah, who Matt Taylor described as ‘a bright spark’ after he was introduced off the bench around the 70-minute mark. The tricky winger was a handful for the opposition back line, rattling the crossbar from a freekick.
