Just. Stop. Ollie.

Coventry City goalkeeper Ben Wilson certainly tried his best, but as the Millers entered the third minute of seven added and holding a slender 1-0 lead against the Sky Blues, Ollie Rathbone finally netted the goal he and his team deserved.

The midfielder was at his energetic, all-action best against Mark Robins’ side at AESSEAL New York Stadium and after Lee Peltier gave the Millers the lead with 51 minutes on the clock, Rathbone was on a mission to add further to the scoreline.

In the 63rd minute, Seb Revan’s cross was cleared as far as Rathbone, who took a touch before firing low, seeing his strike tipped away by Wilson.

Jordan Hugill, Christ Tiehi and Fred Onyedinma all went close as the Millers laid siege to the Coventry goal and Rathbone was handed another opportunity on 71 minutes. Good work from Cohen Bramall on the left side presented the midfielder with space to shoot, seeing his rasping drive from 25 yards tipped over the bar by the flying Wilson.

With the game finely poised heading into injury time, Ollie and the Millers finally got their reward – the match-clinching goal.

Seb Revan dug out a cross from the left towards Kelly, who unselfishly chested it down for Rathbone, who fired into the ground and into the net to make it 2-0.

On a day where there were a number of candidates for the Mattress Online Man of the Match crown, it was Rathbone who earned a slender victory with 32.1% of the 651 votes cast, nominated alongside Lee Peltier, Viktor Johansson and Christ Tiehi.
