Rotherham United goalkeeper Viktor Johansson capped off a superb individual campaign by claiming the final Mattress Online Man of the Match award, for a typically assured display between the sticks in Monday’s 0-0 draw against Wigan Athletic.
The Swede was crowned the Player and Players’ Player of the Season at the 2022/23 Season Dinner last Friday and played a crucial role in helping the Millers to a point which saw them finish with 50 points and a 19th placed finish.
Johansson made the first of three crucial saves in the 73rd minute, when he denied Omar Rekik from close range to keep the scores level. Moments later, it was Callum Lang’s turn to test him, but again he couldn’t beat the Viking from range, before Charlie Hughes was also denied from distance.
The shutout kept Viktor’s 13th league clean sheet of the campaign and ensured he capped off a memorable campaign by earning 51.3% of the 715 votes cast, with Cameron Humphreys, Jamie Lindsay and Richard Wood also nominated.
