23-year-old Jordan Cox has now secured a full-time job at Rotherham-based ASD Lighting after completing his traineeship through the Rotherham United Community Sports Trust’s Education programme.
Jordan signed up for one of our traineeships after being referred by the Job Centre back in December 2022, and now thanks to working closely with our education team, has secured a full-time position as Production Operative with the lighting company.
After leaving school more than six years ago with few qualifications and no work experience, Jordan was left feeling unsure about what path to go down. He developed a poor routine and he suffered from low confidence.
After completing an initial assessment, Jordan enrolled on to one of our traineeships at the beginning of January 2023. From here our education team helped Jordan work towards his Maths and English qualifications as well as gaining four days a week of work experience at his now employer ASD Lighting.
Jordan praised the RUCST’s education programme. He said: “Without the support and guidance from the RUCST I wouldn’t be where I am now. I was lost and didn’t know what to do as I didn’t have many qualifications or work experience. The RUCST traineeship has literally changed my life and now I’m looking forward to going from strength to strength in my new career at ASD Lighting.
“Thank you to everyone at RUCST for helping me turn my life around and putting me on the right track.”
James Mahoney, Education Manager at RUCST, said: “We’re so happy for Jordan that he has secured a full-time job at ASD Lighting. It’s a true testament to his hard work and commitment to the traineeship that he has impressed so much that he has managed to secure a full-time job.
“Since joining us, Jordan’s confidence has grown tremendously which is evident through his interaction with others in the group.
“As well as gaining an insight into the world of work, the work placement at ASD lighting has given Jordan increased his motivation, his skills and has led to him developing a good routine.”
Since starting the traineeship, Jordan has shown a desire to learn new skills and a willingness to engage in any task given. The programme has allowed Jordan to flourish and show his full potential. Good luck in your new role, Jordan!”
