Rotherham United goalkeeper Viktor Johansson has been voted by his peers as the Players’ Player of the Season for the 2022/23 campaign, sponsored by Guardian Electrical.
As is tradition for this award, Rotherham United players were once again asked to select their standout performer throughout the season, with Johansson claiming a big majority of the votes, despite competition from a number of other star performers, including Cameron Humphreys, Lee Peltier and Chiedozie Ogbene.
Johansson has been in outstanding form this term, earning plaudits for a string of near-miraculous saves, helping himself to 12 clean sheets in the second tier.
The Swedish stopper’s sensational displays also saw him gain international recognition, with Johansson called up to represent the Swedish Senior National Team for the first time. He was a consistent performer for Matt Taylor’s men, featuring 43 times in all competitions.
