Rotherham United goalkeeper Viktor Johansson has been rewarded for his fantastic form between the sticks throughout the 2022/23 Sky Bet Championship campaign with his first senior call-up to the Swedish National Team.
Johansson has been selected for his country’s upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifying fixtures and could be in-line to earn his first cap, when Janne Andersson’s side lock horns with Belgium and Azerbaijan on Friday 24th March and Monday 27th March respectively.
The popular stopper – affectionately known as ‘The Viking’ by supporters – has been in scintillating form throughout the campaign, with a number of eye-catching performances for Matt Taylor’s men, none more so than his display in the 1-0 success over Stoke City back in October.
His displays – which have yielded 10 clean sheets in the second tier thus far – have not gone unnoticed and he’s duly been selected to represent his nation in the below fixtures:
Sweden v Belgium | Friends Arena, Stockholm | Friday 24th March | 7:45pm
Sweden v Azerbaijan | Friends Arena, Stockholm | Monday 27th March | 7:45pm
Everyone at Rotherham United would like to congratulate Viktor on this richly-deserved achievement and wish him the best of luck for the upcoming fixtures.
