Rotherham United are delighted to once again be donning their whites for a charity cricket match in support of the Rotherham Hospice on Thursday 29th June at Wickersley Old Village Cricket Club.

Club legend and Honorary Life President John Breckin has once again been batting away behind-the-scenes and has now declared that the popular Hospice Cup fixture will return for another innings when keen cricketer and first team Millers boss Matt Taylor leads his side into battle for this summer’s fundraiser.

Rotherham United supporters will once again get a chance to have a first look at any new signings that have joined the club and make a start on filling their autograph books ahead of the 2023/24 campaign kicking off.

The event has proven to be incredibly successful over the last few years with Breck following on, year-upon-year in delivering a day out which is fun for Millers fans of all ages.

Alongside the entertainment provided by the cricket match itself, there will be stalls on-site including pie and peas provided by our friends at Eric Twigg Foods, a paid bar in and outside the pavilion at Wickersley Old Village Cricket Club and music played throughout by PA Entertainment.

The event not only serves as a fantastic opportunity for the club to reaffirm its commitment to the local community but also provides Taylor’s side with an early chance to strengthen bonds off the field. Through Breck’s commercial links he has once again arranged for the players to have a pre-match meal at the 'W' Italian restaurant in Wickersley before making their way over for the match in aid of the Rotherham Hospice with stumps at 5:30pm.

There will be no tickets on sale for those wishing to attend, instead, supporters will be asked to donate what they can on the door to the Rotherham Hospice. No matter how big or small the donation, it will be greatly appreciated and go towards keeping this amazing place running.
