Rotherham United are delighted to confirm that defender Tyler Blackett has signed a new one-year contract to extend his stay in South Yorkshire, subject to ratification from the FA and EFL.

The former Manchester United defender joined the Millers in March following a spell in the United States with FC Cincinnati and following successful summer negotiations, has agreed fresh terms to remain at AESSEAL New York Stadium for the upcoming 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

Blackett impressed in his seven appearances in Rotherham United colours, prompting manager Matt Taylor to move swiftly to secure his services for the new season. The 29-year-old operator will now link up with the first team at Roundwood for pre-season training.

Boasting a wealth of experience, Blackett has also represented the likes of Birmingham City, Reading and Nottingham Forest in the second tier, as well as Scottish Premiership champions Celtic and now joins Sean Morrison and Lee Peltier in committing his future to the Millers for the new season.

Tyler will assume the vacant number six shirt during his time with Rotherham United, with the rest of the 2023/24 squad numbers to be confirmed in due course.
