“I was approached by Steve Coakley who proposed what I consider to be a brilliant idea to promote Rotherham Hospice instead of a commercial organisation on Rotherham United Football Club’s match shirts.
"The Hospice will get free publicity, a donation from the Club and in our case the entire sponsorship package that they can use internally or to raise more funds.
"Five other companies will contribute to make this highly innovative idea a reality and RUFC is a community football club who have very carefully selected sponsors with the right business profile to fit their culture.
"With this initiative to promote a local charity, they are trailblazers and the idea is so good that it will be replicated by other community football clubs in the United Kingdom and elsewhere.”
