Rotherham United are delighted to confirm the arrival of Luton Town winger Fred Onyedinma, who arrives at AESSEAL New York Stadium on a season-long loan, subject to ratification from the Premier League, FA and EFL.
The 26-year-old began his career with Millwall after graduating from the Lions’ Academy, making 151 appearances from 2014 to 2019, in which he found the net 12 times and set up a further 15.
Raised in London, the exciting winger furthered his footballing development with two loan spells at Wycombe Wanderers, first in Sky Bet League Two as a teenager and then in the third tier during the 2018/19 campaign.
The Chairboys moved swiftly to secure his services, snapping him on a permanent transfer in the summer of 2019, where he would go on to help the club achieve promotion to the Sky Bet Championship for the first time in their history.
He continued to excel in Wycombe colours and finished the following second tier campaign with five goals and four assists to his name, which caught the eye of Luton Town, who secured his signature ahead of the 2021/22 for an undisclosed fee.
He made an immediate impact at Kenilworth Road, scoring once and providing a further two assists to land the Man of the Match award in a dominant 3-0 opening day success over Peterborough United, ending the campaign with eight goal involvements to his name.
Injury limited the winger – who can also operate as a wing-back to just 21 appearances last term, but he played his part in helping the Hatters win promotion to the Premier League.
Onyedinma arrives as Matt Taylor’s fifth summer signing and will wear the number 14 shirt during his time at AESSEAL New York Stadium.
