Rotherham United concluded their time in Murcia with a useful pre-season run-out in scorching Spanish temperatures against Elche CF on Saturday morning.
With the weather causing the heat rise above 30 degrees, it was as much a mental test for Matt Taylor’s men as it was a physical one at the end of a hard week of work.
To help combat the heat and to ensure that the majority of his squad enjoyed some competitive match minutes, the Millers boss fielded two different XIs either side of the interval.
Not only did the fixture mean minutes under the belt for the Millers, it also provided them with a test against a team playing a contrasting style with Elche having competed in La Liga last season.
A breakaway goal from Mourat after 72 minutes marked the difference between the sides in terms of the scoreline, in a game which was broken up by rehydration intervals midway through each half.

Millers XI Second Half | Johansson, Peltier, Morrison, McCart, Holvey (Cafu), Durose, Odoffin, Douglas, Bola, McGuckin, Kelly.
