Having gone close against Sheffield United in midweek, Cafu finally accomplished what he’d been threatening to do all the way through pre-season.
A warning sign had been fired last Tuesday, when the Portuguese operator had seen his ferocious free kick cannon back off the crossbar against the Blades.
Against Lincoln City on Saturday, he made no mistake executing a free kick to perfection to double his team’s lead against the Imps.
The Millers had been 1-0 to the good thanks to an equally eye-catching goal from Ollie Rathbone and wrapped up the victory when Jordan Hugill made it three inside an hour.
It wasn’t only his prowess from deadballs that caught the attention of supporters at LNER Stadium, but his all round performance in the centre of the park, as he helped pull the strings against the Imps.
It all meant that for the second time in succession, Cafu was voted the Mattress Online Man of the Match, seeing off competition from Cameron Humphreys, Ollie Rathbone and debutant Fred Onyedinma, earning 73.7% of the 912 votes cast.
