Rotherham United are delighted to confirm the loan capture of West Ham United midfielder Conor Coventry, who joins until the end of the 2022/23 campaign, subject to ratification from the FA, EFL and Premier League.

The 22-year-old arrives at AESSEAL New York Stadium as Matt Taylor’s fifth signing following the turn of the year and a further evidence of the club’s intent to establish itself at Sky Bet Championship level.

A deep-lying midfielder, Coventry came through the youth ranks with the Hammers and earned himself the armband for the U23s side in 2020/21. He would go on to put in a number of influential displays, netting seven goals in 20 appearances, which in turn, saw him earn his first senior Republic of Ireland call-up in March 2021.

In order to further his footballing development, Coventry has enjoyed a series of loan moves in the EFL with the likes of Lincoln City, Peterborough United and Milton Keynes Dons.

He made 12 appearances for Posh in the Sky Bet Championship last term, before completing another loan switch to Stadium: MK in January, where he became a crucial cog in the side’s midfield, making 22 appearances and helping the Dons to a third-placed finish in the third tier.

This term, Coventry has appeared in the Premier League for the Hammers, replacing Pablo Fornals on the opening day against Manchester City, as well as starting for the Irons in the Europa Conference League and Carabao Cup.

Everyone at Rotherham United would like to welcome Conor to South Yorkshire and wish all the best for his spell here at AESSEAL New York Stadium.
