Rotherham United are delighted to confirm the loan capture of attacking midfielder Domingos Quina, who has completed a loan switch to AESSEAL New York Stadium from fellow Sky Bet Championship side Watford until the end of the 2022/23 campaign, subject to ratification from the EFL and FA.

Born in Guinea-Bissau, Quina was on the books of European giants Benfica and Chelsea before he was snapped up by West Ham United when he was 16, making his professional debut in Hammers’ colours at the start of the 2016/17 campaign, whilst also featuring twice in their Europa League campaign.

The 23-year-old played a starring role on the international front for Portugal’s youth sides, helping them to Under 19 European Championship glory in 2018, before sealing his move to Vicarage Road on Deadline Day of the same year.

His first season for the Hornets saw Quina make his Premier League bow against top flight champions Manchester City, scoring his first goal at English football’s top table against Cardiff City in the same campaign.

The exciting attacker has enjoyed loan spells across the continent in order to further his footballing education, jetting off to represent Spanish side Granada towards the end of the 2020/21 season. Quina gained experience of the second tier last term, spending the first half of the campaign with Fulham before making another temporary switch to South Yorkshire, this time with Barnsley.

He spent the opening stages of the current campaign on loan with La Liga side Elche, playing against the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid during his 11 appearances in all competitions.

His loan move has now been cut short to allow him to become Matt Taylor’s seventh addition of an extremely productive January transfer window.

Everyone at Rotherham United would like to welcome Domingos to AESSEAL New York Stadium and wish him all the best for his stint in South Yorkshire.
