Rotherham United are delighted to confirm the permanent signing of forward Jordan Hugill, who joins from fellow Sky Bet Championship outfit Norwich City on a deal until June 2026, subject to EFL and FA ratification.

The Millers successfully conclude their long pursuit to land the 30-year-old’s signature, seeing off the challenge of a number of other suitors in the progress as the club looks to solidify it’s standing at second tier level.

Hugill’s arrival marks Matt Taylor’s fourth signing of the January transfer window and he follows the experienced Sean Morrison, Leeds United prospect Leo Hjelde and Premier League winger Tariqe Fosu through the door at Roundwood.

The Middlesbrough-born forward pens a three-year-and-a-half year deal in South Yorkshire with a wealth of Sky Bet Championship experience to his name, and beyond that, has also spent time in the Premier League, most notably with Norwich City and West Ham United.

A powerful frontman with an eye for a goal, Hugill carved out his career in non-league football before being handed his chance by Port Vale in 2013. His form in Burslem prompted interest from Preston North End, who paid an undisclosed fee to secure his services in the summer of 2014.

Over 100 appearances and 23 goals would follow in Lilywhites’ colours, during a spell which also included loan stints with Tranmere Rovers and Hartlepool United.

Hugill’s form in Lancashire had proven to be his best to date and had understandably caught the eye of clubs higher up the food chain and on 31st January 2018, completed a move to Premier League outfit West Ham for a fee reported to be in the region of around £10 million.

Loan switches to hometown club Middlesbrough and Queens Park Rangers would follow his permanent transfer to the London Stadium before he made another money move to Norwich City in 2020.

He has since enjoyed time with Cardiff City and West Bromwich Albion and pens a deal with the Millers with a long and decorated CV to his name.

Hugill will wear the number 10 shirt whilst contracted to Rotherham United.

Everyone at AESSEAL New York Stadium would like to wish Jordan a warm welcome to the club and all the best for his time as a Millers player.
