Rotherham United forward Conor Washington has been voted the Mattress Online Man of the Match for his performance in the Emirates FA Cup Third Round tie with Ipswich Town.
The industrious forward was as willing runner as ever in Matt Taylor’s attack and reaped the rewards of that effort when he won and converted a second half penalty to draw his side level at 1-1.
Washington’s relentless approach also helped him into an excellent goalscoring position in the first half when in which he turned home Shane Ferguson’s low delivery, only to be greeted by the offside flag as he wheeled away to celebrate – although he could only have strayed offside by the finest of margins.
The 30-year-old was nominated alongside another player with an energetic approach to the fixture in Ollie Rathbone, who finished as the runner-up.
Washington wins the award with 55.3% of the 665 votes cast following the full-time whistle.
