Rotherham United Community Sports Trust are looking to raise funds in order to plan a once in a lifetime trip to Ghana.

The Trust are hoping to take 15 young people to the capital city of Accra in October 2023 in order to help with humanitarian aid and sports outreach.

This program will consist of assisting at a local children’s centre, working closely with young children in order to help with the teaching of sports and English, as well as carrying out other projects within the community. The volunteers will be working closely with Accra FC, giving them the opportunity to be coach by elite football coaches, as well as using their facilities.

Here at Rotherham United, we are incredibly proud that the world’s first ever black professional footballer made history in our town over 130 years, when Ghana-born Arthur Wharton signed for Rotherham Town back in 1889. The young people who make the trip will be given the opportunity to learn more about Arthur’s incredible story, as well as learning of Ghana’s amazing history.

RUCST are looking to raise 33,000 in order to help young people from Rotherham make a real difference, if you would like to donate, please scan the below QR code.
