Rotherham United – backed by Rotherham United Community Sports Trust - have continued to support the local community with a number of charity donations over the busy Christmas period and into the New Year.
The club remains incredibly committed to giving back to the people who support us year-round and are always happy to lend a hand when it comes to the many charity ventures which people undertake in and around the town.
The festive period often prompts a number of raffles and other fundraising opportunities for organisations across the borough and we have been contacted by businesses ranging from care homes to the NHS and many grassroots football teams in the area.
A race night fundraiser supported by the Millers which took place at the Transport Soul Club
The month of December is notoriously busy for community work within the club and proved to be that way again this year, with the Millers sending members of the first team out into the town to make a number of Christmas visits.
A number of winter illnesses meant that we weren’t able to support in the traditional sense of visits to Rotherham Hospice and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, but we made sure that we had a presence at both of these amazing charities to show our appreciation.
Lime Tree Nursery Christmas Fayre was supported by Rotherham United and the Rotherham United Community Sports Trust
On the subject of the Rotherham Hospice, they were one of the organisations who had contacted us for support with a fundraiser, with Claire Mastin – who works in the kitchen – reaching out to the club for a prize to help generate funds for essential kitchen equipment. It is vitally important to remember that places like the hospice rely on so many people beyond the nurses to continue functioning and it was our pleasure to be able to issue tickets for an upcoming game to Claire, to allow her and the team to continue their wonderful work.
As always, the events and charities that we supported throughout December and into the New Year had great variety and we are immensely proud of our fans for their ongoing efforts to make a difference, not just regionally, but nationally too.
