Rotherham United’s U18s booked their place in the Youth Alliance Cup area final showpiece as they recorded a 3-1 win at Lincoln City on Saturday.
Joe Skarz’s side continued their rich vein of form in the cup competition when they triumphed over the Imps as goals from Hamish Douglas, Jake Champion and Adam Clark secured a safe passage to book a place in the Northern final against Mansfield Town.
The Millers may have worried that their cup run was in jeopardy when the hosts took the early initiative through Bailey Adamson, who struck after 20 minutes to make it 1-0 but showed great determination to turn the result around.
Douglas restored parity in the tie when he levelled from a corner before second half goals from Champion and Clark put clear daylight between the two sides.
The Millers youngsters have teed up a Northern area final against Mansfield Town which is set to take place on home soil in late March.
The winner of the tie will go on to take on MK Dons in the national final which has provisionally been booked to take place on Wednesday 26th April 2023.
