Rotherham United’s on loan defender Leo Hjelde has earned himself the Mattress Online Man of the Match award for his performance in the televised Monday night clash with Swansea City.
Matt Taylor’s men once again looked assured at the back whilst also impressing at the other end of the pitch, with a number of players catching the eye in the clash in South Wales.
The Norwegian loanee – who is enjoying a temporary switch from Leeds United – once again turned in a performance which belied his tender years and saw him nullify the various threats posed by the Swans at the Swansea.com Stadium.
As well as showing his capabilities in defence, Hjelde attacked with purpose when required, offering a hand of support to the advanced Shane Ferguson down the left-hand side.
At just 19-years-old there is clearly still plenty to come for the highly-rated defender, but he is certainly improving with each week that passes in Rotherham United colours.
Hjelde was nominated in a four-man shortlist alongside Tariqe Fosu, Cameron Humphreys and Chiedozie Ogbene and landed himself nearly 50% of the 1,700-or-so votes cast following the full-time whistle.
