Millers boss Matt Taylor was full of praise for the battling qualities of his side as Chiedozie Ogbene’s second-half strike ensured their share of spoils following a hard-working display by Swansea City.

Joel Piroe put the Swans ahead at the interval but Ogbene – a threat all evening – levelled matters in the Sky TV clash.

Speaking afterwards, Taylor was proud of his side’s efforts in South Wales, especially after falling behind, and the Millers boss was quick to praise the impact of Ogbene, who notched his eighth goal of the season in all competitions.

“It could have been three points but I’m pleased we equalised and pleased we got back into the game because we have not done that enough this season.

“I’m pleased we showed some real character in the second half. I felt the game was a little bit soft from both teams in the first half and a couple of soft moments turned into errors. We let them in with that goal and it gave them a boost.

“In the second half. It was important we got the goal and we could have and possibly should have got the three points.

“At half time, we were well in the game without playing particularly well. Our structure was fine but our execution with the ball was too poor. I felt our intent, our aggression and our use of the ball was a lot better in the second half. We still didn’t have enough quality moments, though.

“It was a strange looking goal as Shane (Ferguson) slipped when he delivered the ball while Chieo (Ogbene) put the ball in despite being on the floor.

“So much is expected of Chieo and he has a big responsibility. He is still learning his game and you are not going to perform at your best in every game in this league. He’s still gaining experience in the Championship and I have no qualms with Chieo. I’m pleased he got his goal because that is the only thing that he has been lacking in recent weeks.”
