Rotherham United are delighted to confirm the arrival of striker Andre Green following the expiration of his contract with Slovakian outfit Slovan Bratislava, subject to ratification from the EFL, FA and International Clearance.

The striker has penned a two year contract after impressing during a trial period, in which he found the net in friendly fixtures against Mansfield Town and Sheffield United.

Representing England from U16 through to U20 level, Green joined Aston Villa at the age of nine and progressed through the youth ranks before making his Premier League bow as a 17-year-old. He went on to play 48 times for the club, including in their Play-off final victory over Derby County in 2019.

Following the expiration of his Villa contract, Green – who also spent time on loan with Preston North End and Charlton Athletic - made his first switch to South Yorkshire, joining the Millers’ South Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield Wednesday. He played 15 times for the Owls before sealing a switch across the continent to Slovan Bratislava in the summer of 2021.

Featuring in Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League qualifiers, Green’s time in Slovakia has certainly been success-laden, helping his former club win the league title in both seasons, netting 11 goals in all competitions last term.

Green initially arrived at Roundwood on a trial basis, but has impressed boss Matt Taylor enough to hand him a two-year deal ahead of the upcoming 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship campaign. The forward will wear the number 11 shirt during his time at AESSEAL New York Stadium.
