Rotherham United are delighted to confirm that they have completed the permanent transfer of midfielder Christ Tiehi, who arrives at AESSEAL New York Stadium for an undisclosed club-record fee from FC Slovan Liberec, subject to EFL and FA ratification and international clearance.

The Millers’ pursuit of the highly-rated Frenchman has been well-documented and finally reaches a positive conclusion following the application for a UK work permit for the player being approved on Thursday.

The 25-year-old signs a three-year deal with the club and adds both quality and depth to Matt Taylor’s squad but will now face a race against time to acquire international clearance for him to be eligible to feature in this weekend’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Tiehi arrives in South Yorkshire with second tier experience on his CV - having made 19 appearances for Wigan Athletic in the division last season – which sits alongside stints in the Czech Republic following his early footballing experiences in his native France.

The Paris-born operator is the son of former Ivory Coast international Joel Tiehi and followed in his father’s footsteps on the international stage when he was called up to represent Les Elephants at U20 level for the 2017 Toulon Tournament.

Tiehi is a product of the illustrious Le Havre AC academy from which players including Paul Pogba, Riyad Mahrez and Dimitri Payet are all graduates having enjoyed their formative years in football with the club.

Tiehi will wear the number 27 shirt whilst with Rotherham United.

Everyone at the club would like to welcome Christ to the club and wish him all the best for his time here at AESSEAL New York Stadium.
