Rotherham United defender Lee Peltier was on iFollow Millers duty ahead of Saturday’s clash against Wigan Athletic.

Following the departure of first team manager Paul Warne and the rest of his coaching staff, Peltier has been overseeing first team matters at Roundwood, alongside club captain Richard Wood.

On the agenda for the defender were a number of topics, including the prospect of leading the team out on Saturday, team news and the clash against Latics.

You can read highlights from the interview below, with video content to appear here on iFollow Millers...

Peltier on assisting Richard Wood in first team matters...

"It's been great and a really good experience - and one that I have enjoyed.

"It's been made a lot easier because of the lads in the changing room.

"I've had Woody by my side, who is a really experienced guy and knows the club and we've had Breck here helping as well.

"We're really looking forward to Saturday now."

Peltier on continuity and building on the work put in place by the previous coaching staff...

"There's no need to change much because there wasn't much going wrong.

"We've done unbelievably well up until now to get to where we are and hopefully we can continue to do that."

Peltier on atmosphere at training this week...

"It's been great. The atmosphere since I have been at this club has been great and the changing room is fantastic.

"The lads in there are top lads and they've made it really easy for us by just getting on with it, as per usual."

Peltier on whether they have tried anything different on the training ground this week...

"We've done little bibs and bobs. I've been doing quite a few passing drills which I think the lads have been happy with.

"It has been good. It's also been hard as a player coming into it to see what detail goes into training. I've just been used to turning up and everything being done for me.

"I've been planning everything and going home thinking about it and things like that. That side of it has been good and I've really enjoyed it."

Peltier on the analytical side of coaching...

"You don't realise how much detail goes into a training day on a day-to-day basis. You've got to build up for the game which gets really interesting.

"You'll be sat there with all the analysts going through everything - looking at the other teams, players, and that sort of stuff."

Peltier on team selection ahead of Wigan...

"It's never easy to tell someone that they're not playing, and it's a conversation that you've got to have. As a player I'd rather be told face-to-face by the manager rather than just being left out.

"As I keep saying, the lads here are great and the team's been doing really well so you can't really have any complaints about the lads that have been playing.

"It is difficult but that's part of football, isn't it?"

Peltier on himself and Richard Wood's positions on Saturday...

"We've had a few chats about it - we still haven't come to an agreement about it but we'll be alright.

"I've had a few messages from mates asking me to wear and suit and stuff like that! I was thinking about coming in in a suit just for banter with the lads but we'll see."

Peltier on working with the medical team...

"As I've said, so much detail goes into the daily planning for training. We have meetings with the medical staff every single day and they've been absolutely brilliant with me and Woody - helping us along the way.

"We're in a good place, the lads have been really good this week and they've looked fresh. So now onto Saturday."

Peltier on Ogbene and Ferguson's conditions following international duty...

"Yeah, they're both fine. I don't think Chieo or Shane played that many minutes so they’re fresh as well"

Peltier on Wigan...

"Our home record at the minute is really good and we're glad to be back at home.

"I've heard it's nearly a sell-out at the stadium which will be great - the atmosphere will be unbelievable as it has been.

"Wigan are a good outfit, they always have been and they are doing very well in the league.

"For us, we've just got to worry about ourselves and continue doing what we've been doing from the start of the season."

Peltier on his relationship with Richard Wood as a management duo...

"Woody's been great. It's mad because I look up to Woody, and it's very rare I say that because of the age of me!

"He's been unbelievable, he's had a great start to the season and even out on the pitch since we've been asked to take over, his knowledge and stuff has been really good.

"The lads love him, the fans love him - he's been really good."
