Rotherham United boss Paul Warne heaped praise on his side for 'digging in' against a talented Watford side with aspirations of an immediate Premier League return following the 1-1 draw at AESSEAL New York Stadium...

“On the whole we really dug in for a good point and it will feel and it will look even better tomorrow morning I think.

“I thought that we played some really good combination play and got some balls into the box. We had some long throws and they are fashionable again – so I like to say that we do them.

“I did think we were really good, we stopped them playing out, we were competitive and we were aggressive.

“Overall, I’m really pleased and the lads will have an extra day off.

“Woody has been brilliant. Physically today for him it was a tall ask. I’m really pleased for him and I’m pleased for his kids who can watch their dad scoring goals.

“The work rate is a given here. We sign really good people who want to improve and they are really well-coached. Richie is an excellent coach and so is Hammy. If you walk about for one game, you won’t play again in the next one and the lads know that.

“Even though we were poor midweek, it wasn’t for a lack of effort.

“We know how motivated we have to be. There has never been a question on their attitude and application to the game and I’d still have been really proud even if they’d conceded in the last minute.”
