Rotherham United U18s were edged out in their latest Youth Alliance fixture, as they slipped to a narrow 3-2 defeat to Huddersfield Town at Graham Solley Development Centre.
The Millers fell behind inside two minutes, when Hakeem Sandah capitalised on some patient build-up play to net the opening goal.
The Academy had a mountain to climb on 66 minutes, when Sandah added his second of the game but showed great togetherness and spirit to work their way back into it.
The deficit was halved just four minutes later when Kanye Nisbett robbed a Town defender of possession before showing great skill to work his way past two defenders and then finishing with a aplomb.
The Millers were in the ascendancy and equalised with 15 minutes remaining when Nisbett raced onto a through ball and finished emphatically.
There would prove to be a late twist however and it was heartbreak for the young Millers, when Huddersfield countered and won it through Joseph Johnson.
